Why We Have Too Much Omega-6 and Not Enough Omega-3

by admin on April 22, 2008

Most of us are out of balance with our fatty acids. The answer lies in America’s cornfields.

“Corn oil is the backbone of the American diet. We consume up to 20 times more omega-6 fatty acids in our diet compared to omega-3 acids,” says Dr. William Aronson, a professor in the department of urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a researcher with UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center.

The solution: Omega-6 supplements, more fish, and more flaxseed.
